My mom's beautiful tree that only blooms once a year
My grandmother Mc. Alpin was in her 50's when she was diagnosed and was in remission for 5 to 6 years upon its return. The second time around with breast cancer she lost her battle, and it was a battle she fought until the very end. She loved the snow, and it never snowed where she lived. My grandfather said she used to stand by the window when they were calling for snow. She would be so excited, and most of the time it never came. It was in February when she passed about 9 years ago, and it snowed like crazy at the funeral and the burial. I knew she was finally at peace. I love her and miss her very much. She was so sweet and kind and loving. This is one of many reasons I support this cause. It's very close to my heart for two reasons, two very special reasons. I have another grandmother, Kay Bittinger, and she has been a survivor for almost 10 years. She is a fighter with a lot to be thankful for. It wasn't an easy road but we are so thankful she is here with us today. She walks with me every year. I am so proud to be walking beside her and walking for her and all the others who have survived and gave their lives to this awful disease. I hope and I know one day there will be a cure. Together we can find a cure.
